Fran Blanes

1973, Leo, Argentinean.

Fran started drawing when he was a child, and went on to study Advertising and Cinema followed by two postgraduate courses in Contemporary Art Studies. In 2000, he was awarded a grant to travel to Barcelona and complete a Masters in Documentary.

He becomes increasingly interested in Performance, and develops and performs in numerous shows in Barcelona, Buenos Aires and Madrid.

His work deals borders, boundaries, emptiness and nonsense, from a surrealistic point of view. He works with the "Real" and leads us into the unconscious.

He is currently a resident artist at Hangar (www.hangar.org).
