Paulina León combines in her videos her theater experience as well as the influence of the plastic arts. In her series "Improvisaciones", León carries out small "stagings" of great freshness to way of the theater improvisation, for which she uses daily objects or her own hands as protagonists and relates simple stories, but that represents in turn the complexity of the human being. In this series and in her posterior videos, León approaches every time with greater irony and humor the issue of the "otredad", that is, all those that are considered as "others" or "different" from her origin, culture, physical appearance and any other stereotype. She questions with sharpness the relationships of the "first - third world", the canons of "normality" and "beauty", the discriminatory practices to the migrantes ones, to the not-white, to the not-normal. As León explains it: "It stops my to do videos, to do art in general, is a way of not being indifferent in the face of the issues of this world, especially the related ones to the discriminatory practices. The art communicates, but poetically, arriving at different levels of the human consciousness". -- The vídeo " Waiting for Margarita " presented during the festival LOOP 07 has been selected for Javier Duero to form the program VISION:A - Video Art Itinerant Exhibition.
