Carmen Amaya was born in Barcelona in 1913 and died in Bagur (Girona) in 1963.She is the greatest flamenco dancer of all time. Her flamenco appearance had always been remarkably different and unmistakable.Colita spent a few months in the shooting of the film “los Tarantos” directed by Rovira Beleta.The images she captured during the shooting are part of the “Carmen Amaya 1963 Taranta, Agosto, Luto and Absence” book.During the exhibition of those images, in 1996, Colita declared, "she had an innate gift that made her reform flamenco dance."
